EN1063 - EN 1063

European Committee for Standardization (CEN)

European standard EN 1063 specifically addresses bullet-resistant glazing (glass), defining classification levels from BR1 through BR7 and test procedures for security glass. This standard is essential for armored vehicle windows and is recognized internationally.

EN 1063 is the definitive European standard for ballistic glass, providing comprehensive testing requirements:

Protection Classes:

  • BR1: .22 LR protection

  • BR2-BR3: Lower-velocity handgun protection

  • BR4: 9mm and .357 Magnum protection

  • BR5: 5.56mm rifle protection

  • BR6-BR7: High-velocity rifle protection

Key Testing Requirements:

  • Three shots within a defined triangle pattern

  • No penetration through the attack face

  • Limited spall from the protected face

  • Specific glass thickness per protection level

Spall Rating (S suffix):
EN 1063 includes optional spall rating. Glass rated "BR4-S" indicates both ballistic resistance and spall protection, ensuring fragments don't injure occupants.

All our ballistic glass meets or exceeds EN 1063 requirements for the specified protection level.
