NATO Standardization Agreement 4569 defines protection levels for military and peacekeeping vehicles against kinetic energy projectiles and blast threats. While primarily a military standard, STANAG 4569 is referenced for high-threat civilian applications requiring maximum protection.

STANAG 4569 represents the highest tier of vehicle protection standards:

Kinetic Energy (KE) Protection Levels:


  • Level 1: 7.62x51mm NATO Ball at 30m

  • Level 2: 7.62x39mm API at 30m

  • Level 3: 7.62x51mm AP at 30m

  • Level 4: 14.5mm API at 200m

  • Level 5: 25mm APDS at 500m

  • Level 6: 30mm APFSDS at 500m

Blast (Mine) Protection Levels:


  • Level 1a/1b: Hand grenades

  • Level 2a/2b: 6kg AT mines

  • Level 3a/3b: 8kg AT mines

  • Level 4a/4b: 10kg AT mines

While civilian vehicles rarely require full STANAG certification, this standard informs our highest-protection builds for government and diplomatic clients operating in conflict zones. We can armor vehicles to meet specific STANAG KE levels upon request.
